Shaken not stirred

There's a rumour going round that Henry Cavill has been signed up for the new Bond but it is April the first. Then again, one or two blog posts detailing the news have been taken down, so your guess, concerning the veracity of this rumour, is as good as mine.

  1. Of course it's nothing but a rumour - I'M the next Bond.

    1. Sure you're not the new Moneypenny?

    2. I'm doing both roles - I'm multi-talented.

    3. So will they be using cgi for the in office banter scenes, or is quick change another one of those talents?

    4. Quick-change for the office banter scenes, although CGI will be used for when Bond kisses Moneypenny. (Hey, there's a limit to even what I can achieve.)

    5. Kid, you're telling me you can't kiss yourself? That's Bond lesson one, see Connery in From Russia with Love.

    6. I could probably kiss myself if I really wanted to, but that would be too weird - hence the CGI. And I think you mean Diamonds Are Forever.

    7. Diamonds are Forever, oh yeah, that's right, I was just making sure you knew that, honest.

  2. Sounds like an April Fool's Day hoax or just a typical internet rumor.

I've read somewhere that Daniel Craig's contract calls for one more Bond film. Given that The Man From UNCLE was a box office disappointment, I doubt that Cavill is on the short list of candidates for Craig's replacement.

    1. Probably right there about the hoax, I think the news would be all over the pace by now if it had been true. Not sure what Craig's status as Bond is, the studio might have an option on him.

  3. After movies with George Clooney and Ben Affleck as Batman, Warren Beatty as Dick Tracy, Alec Baldwin as the Shadow, and Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp as the Lone Ranger and Tonto, I expect the next James Bond will be Tim Westwood.

Then Woody Allen as the Terminator, Boy George as Bulldog Drummond, Richard Simmons as Rambo, Paul Reubens as Conan the Barbarian, Prince as John Shaft, Tina Fey as Lara Croft, and Rita Rudner as Xena.

    1. I'm not sure if it's the worst casting decision ever or a case of an ill-conceived approach to the character but the one on screen rendering of a comic-book character that still gives me nightmares, is Colin Farrel's Bulleye. It's even worse than Batman Forever, where the antagonists are competing to out cackle each other, because it's a single character that destroys the flick. If they just changed that and left the rest of the film as is, it would elevate the flick into something watchable. True, it wouldn't be a great flick, probably not even a good one, just watchable.
